Problem
Located near Saratoga Springs, approximately 200 miles North of New York City, the farm wanted to convert a portion of its land to build a 3,000 square foot greenhouse to grow produce hydroponically. Most importantly, the farm wanted to grow produce that had a superior taste to differentiate its product at the upscale farmers markets in the area.
Solution
Blue Planet Environmental consulted with the farm's facilities manager to design and construct a hydroponic farm that utilized oxygenation throughout the feed tanks. This provided the plants in both the NFT and drip systems with consistently high levels of dissolved oxygen.
Result
StoneBridge farm now has two greenhouses up and running and is selling its tomatoes and leafy greens at three farmers markets and a local health food store. Oxygenation allowed the farm to add one additional harvest per year and increased its yields by 30%. Blue Planet Environmental oxygenation technology has also been acknowledged as the reason for its uniquely rich tasting tomatoes. Furthermore, maintenance requirements due to algae build up has been reduced.
